New Wanstead is a pocket of Redbridge that benefits from proximity to the leafy open spaces of Wanstead Flats and the more established dining strip of Wanstead village nearby, with a small collection of quality independent cafes and restaurants that over-deliver for the area. The atmosphere is quietly residential and the dining leans toward the higher end of what you might expect this far east - though in the best way, where quality has clearly been prioritised. The Central line at Wanstead station makes it a genuinely easy evening out from anywhere across Zone 2 and 3.
