The East End carries centuries of immigration and working-class cooking in its bones, and that history still shows in the range of places to eat across the area. Prices are among the more accessible in London, and the value on offer is often excellent - this is somewhere you eat well without thinking too hard about the bill. Brick Lane and its surrounding streets remain a useful anchor, but the dining scene spills out across the whole stretch of Tower Hamlets.
