Livermore's dining scene leans heavily into American comfort food, and the value here is genuinely hard to beat compared to much of the Bay Area. The stretch around the downtown area and Las Positas corridor gives you solid sit-down meals without the price tags you'd expect closer to the coast. If you're coming out for the wineries, factor in a proper lunch or dinner here rather than eating near the tasting rooms, where your money goes noticeably further.

This is classic In-N-Out: fresh, straightforward burgers, a lively counter-service room, and remarkably courteous staff even when the queue is working hard. Most diners find the food reliable and fairly priced, while fries, shrinking portions, and a handful of serious hygiene or allergy-related complaints complicate the picture. Try: Double-Double.
This spacious downtown alehouse has a distinctive beer-can display, lively energy, easy parking, and pleasant shaded outdoor seating. Burgers, wings, and some sandwiches can be excellent, but fried food and other dishes are uneven, with price concerns from some diners. Try: burgers.
This spacious Western-themed steakhouse has a cheerful, bustling atmosphere, comfortable booths, and notably warm service on many visits. Steaks, prime rib, ribs, bread, and portions are often strong, while temperature control, sides, and wait times can miss badly. Try: Prime rib.
This is a bustling, sports-friendly barbecue room with a patio, energetic atmosphere, and a substantial drinks program. Brisket, ribs, burnt ends, and sides can be excellent, but dry or lukewarm food and costly takeout have appeared often enough to matter. Try: brisket.
This is a spacious, ornate Indian dining room with lively music, strong hospitality, and a clear appetite for celebrations and private events. The food can be excellent—especially paneer, tandoor dishes, biryani, and breads—but a smaller set of visits reports bland or stale dishes, undersized portions, and costly surprises. Try: Paneer Tikka Masala.
