Lee BrasserieB

Uus tn 31, 10111 Tallinn · Vanalinn

A beautiful Old Town garden restaurant with warm service and inventive Estonian-Asian cooking, but small portions, occasional salt and temperature issues, and add-on charges make the experience uneven for the price.

Our take

Lee Brasserie delivers solid food quality and warm, attentive service, anchored by a genuinely appealing garden setting in the Old Town that justifies the destination appeal. However, inconsistent execution across tasting menus, with recurring concerns about salt levels and portions, prevents a stronger grade, and some uncertainty in our assessment stems from limited review authenticity confidence.

In more detail

Lee Brasserie is tucked into Tallinn’s Old Town but feels worlds away from the main-square restaurant circuit: a secluded garden, handsome interior, and a calm, conversational mood. Guests repeatedly describe the courtyard as enchanting and the welcome as personal, while a smaller group reports waits, wine-service slips, or inattentive moments. In short, the setting is the sort of thing that makes you slow down before the first course arrives. The cooking is contemporary Estonian with clear Asian influence rather than conservative brasserie fare. The menu backs that up with miso, shiso, kombu, yuzu, wasabi, galangal, smoked oyster cream, and other cross-cultural combinations. Beef tartare, trout, quail, risotto, and especially the Kohuke dessert have inspired genuine enthusiasm, although portions can feel restrained and execution is not perfectly uniform. The tasting menu is the more immersive route, while à la carte ordering gives more control to diners who prefer familiar or especially strong dishes. Families can manage here, but this is not a child-focused restaurant. The current menu does offer accessible choices such as chicken thigh, French fries, chocolate tart, carrot cake, and ice cream, plus substantial vegetarian and vegan options; however, much of the cooking is adventurous and layered with fermented, spicy, or unfamiliar flavors. Picky eaters may be happier with a carefully chosen à la carte meal than the surprise or sharing menu.
